Can a screen reader read your PDF contract?
Probably not. A scan of a signed page is an empty picture to a screen reader. In an ordinary PDF the table falls apart into lines, and the file is read by layout columns rather than by meaning. You find this out on the day a client, a school or a procurement office asks for the file.
A file everyone can read
The file starts reading the way a person reads it: top to bottom and by meaning. Inside the document headings become headings, tables become tables, and pictures get a description.
We put the scan through recognition, proofread the text by hand, then tag that page like any other. In forms we label the fields and set the keyboard order, so the contract can be filled in and sent without printing it.
You get back the same file with the same look, plus a PAC check report — PAC is the programme such files are normally checked with.

Questions
We have three files. Is there a minimum order?
No. We count pages: three pages cost as much as three pages. A hundred files and a single contract go at the same rate — volume changes the deadline, not the price per page. You will not pay up front for a batch you do not have.
Will the file look different?
No. We work on the structure, not the layout: fonts, spacing and brand colours stay as they were. What changes is what you do not see on screen: the reading order, the picture descriptions and how the file is built inside.
We only have a scan of the signed contract. Can you work with that?
Yes. Such a page counts as complex: first recognition, then proofreading by hand, and only then the tagging. You pay for it by the hour — $175 per hour with a two-hour minimum. We tell you the total before the work starts, not in the invoice.
Who confirms the file now conforms?
The PAC check report. It comes with the file and you send it on to the client as it is. If the client wants a document on letterhead, that is a VPAT, a conformance report: separate work with its own price.
